attended an assembly where we met Mr. Anderson and saw videos related to appropriate behaviour at school.
did an assessment on our knowledge of patterns during math. We also explored equations with a missing addend using technology with Ipads.
practiced making connections to other texts, to oneself and to the world while reading in French. We practiced making a resume of a story as well as how to question the text we are currently reading. We also started writing a Halloween story by brainstorming ideas and thinking about the different components of an interesting story.
did several scientific experiments with simple machines such as the inclined plane, the pulley and the lever and received feedback on our scientific writing and observations. We also talked about new scientific vocabulary in French. We explored ideas for the simple machine project and discussed criteria for assessment. *** Please see website link under resources-projects.***
talked about inventions and innovations in English. We reviewed the 4Ps (price, place, promotion and product) we learned about during our world business workshop. We explored the Invention W's (WHAT does it do?, WHEN would you use it? WHy is it helpful or WHAT problem does it solve, WHO would you sell it to?HOW much would you sell it for?) and we brainstormed ideas for inventions/innovations that we will promote by creating a pamphlet in class. Students have the option of linking this invention to their simple machine or they can come up with two different ideas.
continued to practice overhand setting skills for volleyball during P.E and played co-operative games.
*** Next tuesday afternoon we are having a communal classroom reward Halloween party*** Please consider bringing some snacks to share! We will also need paper plates, cups and napkins. Students can get an idea of what they would like to bring over the weekend and we will have a sign-up sheet in class on monday.
